Faber castell classic colored pencil review is actually for Faber Castell’s favorite student grade offering. Faber castell pencils company has been around for many years making quality pencils.
You will see some noticeable differences in these pens behave compared to other Faber Castell colored pencils.
Currently, you can get this set of an exceptional Faber Castell classic color pencils in a tin for less than it costs for the 36 count set. The eraser is great, and I love the 2 grip sketch pencils.
The tin they come in is nice, but the trays are a flimsy plastic so it’s easy to upset the entire tray when taking them out of the tin. Tin trays would be sturdier. This colored pencil variety offers a sufficient amount of different colors and you can layer and blend colors easily.
Additionally, the blending isn’t good here so the colors that arrive from the package are what you will have to use. You can produce some in-between colors but we advocate using a solvent to get a little bit of a mixing increase. Package sizes range from quite small to medium in size, therefore, we recommend opting to get a larger set size when possible as the tiny sizes will only have a lot of gaps in the available colors.
I didn’t like the tin. It is lightweight and mine already has a ding in it and will not stay closed without wrapping rubber bands around it. In addition, the storage trays are flimsy. They droop and bend easily when you remove them from the tin giving you the idea that the tray will lean and spill out the pencils.
Usability and Stability
The key point with these Faber pencils is their hard lead. This lead is quite resilient that makes it excellent for classroom tusk (because we know how hard kids can push down on pencils).
Additionally, being a hexagonal barrel, you get really good control and grip. Another extra benefit of the harder lead is they can be sharpened to a fine point that makes them great for highly intricate areas of an art piece.
The 3.3mm center is a fantastic size and locates a nice middle ground between being large enough to color some area but small enough to allow for a sharp point.
Additionally, the program isn’t likely to be as smooth and buttery. You will feel much more “scratching” and also the color that comes out will not be consistent so that you may have to make several passes to get the desired texture you are after. However, for the cost, they are more than okay from a usability perspective.
Packaging and Display
These best pencils come in a standard thin tin box similar to many other budget pencil lineups. You won’t find any of the fancy metallic cases and appealing embedded inner pencil shelving here. We recommend swapping the pens from the box and placing them at a pencil wrap if you have one as it will be significantly easier to manage the pencils. The pens themselves are also simple in layout.
Best Pencil Value
They’re extremely affordable and compete with many other budgets good colored pencils available on the market while having the unique advantage of carrying the Faber pencils. While these obviously will not compete with the more expensive pens out there, they continue to be quite great for the purchase price.
Faber Castell classic colored pencil review summary
Faber Castell Classic Colored Pencils take the proven Faber-Castel title and apply them to a more affordable entry set. The cores are analyzed and facets like mixing and color output are lowered some but the outcome is a lasting and easy pencil that’s great for a classroom setting.
This specific set of pencils is designed to be competing with the Crayola and Reeves colored pen sets and, in that aspect, they do very well.
All in all, this is a good Selection for those on a tight budget and Searching for something easy. Hope, Faber Castell classic colored pencil review will help you to take the decision about this product.
